So what is the Awareness Initiative? It really grew out of my own awareness of the things I could do to improve my cognition. But from these beginnings it has grown far beyond that. This initiative is my attempt to shake you up a bit. To make it obvious to you that most of us are sleep walking. Our eyes may be open but we can barely see. Don't get me wrong, as aware and enlightened as I struggle to be, I too am very oblivious -- most of the time. Even though I try to "be aware of being aware," I am constantly saying to myself "I can't believe I didn't see that."

I am not going to preach to you I am just going to encourage you to be a detached observer to your  life. Try to be a fly on the wall of your own life. In my mind just having an awareness plants a seed. A seed that often grows into a proclivity for certain choices, certain decisions, certain actions in the future. It is these predispositions that often enable us to proactively and not reactively relate to our world.

As this basic awareness grows, small, imperceptible, incremental and individual changes to ourselves will gradually occur as we grapple with who we are and who we want to be. And perhaps a deeper understanding of ourselves as individuals and as interconnected life forms can occur -- who knows maybe even a  'global consciousness' could develop.

So for now I have a basic awareness test, a left and right brain thinking test and a global consciousness piece I assembled  called "Consequences."

There will be more. I will be looking and developing and am always open to your thoughts and suggestions.

What is it?
I was hoping I could find you a really good quote or a video about awareness. You know one of those riveting poetic pieces that really snaps you into the "NOW."

But alas I could find none and I do not want to go on and on about mindfulness and awakening. There are others far more talented than I, who could  address these issues with you. Instead I am going to attempt to explain my purpose with this initiative.
